Michael S, Moreland of Westmoreland, NH died March 7th surrounded by his loving family. Mike was the husband of Kathryn G. (Hosegood) Moreland.

Michael was the son of the late J.D. Moreland and Vernell Phipps Moreland who lives with Michael's sister Pam Taylor in Tifton, Georgia.

Michael graduated from Calhoun High School and attended Dalton Community College.

After Community College he joined the U.S. Air Force Patrol Dog Handler Military Police. Michael served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Michael then returned to the Air Force in 1990 as a reservist/ later active duty from 9/11/2001 assigned to Westover AFB, Chicopee, Ma he served as a small arms instructor until his 20 years of service retiring in 2008.

Michael is the proud father and step-father to Wendy Grimes spouse George Grimes of Hopkinsville, KY, Bill Shea of Keene and Timothy S. Moreland and partner Audra Wellman also of Keene. Michael's joy and pride lives on with his grandchildren: Taylor Spooner who resides with Michael and Kathryn, Liam Shea,of Keene, Rosemary Moreland and Lillyana Moreland, Keene and Laken Thomas, Greenville, NC. Michael leaves his siblings, Cheryl Blackstock (Robert) of Calhoun, GA, Pamela Taylor (Delano) of Tifton, GA, Phillip Moreland (Jaquetta) of Morrison, TN; his nieces DeAnn and Nicole Taylor and nephews Drake and Duncan Moreland of Tennessee. He was also the beloved Uncle Mike to Jeremy Hosegood (Catherine), Chad Michael Hosegood (Lisa), Jacob Hosegood (Renee) Jessica Hosegood, and grand-niece Brianna Hosegood.

Michael's passions were crafts created for family and friends, reading, and gardening.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 1 pm at the Union Church, Route 12, Westmoreland, NH. Military honors will follow the service. Interment will be in the spring at South Village Cemetery, Westmoreland, NH. There are no public visiting hours.
