Michael Stephen Scala, 12, of, Tampa, FL earned his angel wings on Friday, March 10, 2017 in the arms of his mother and the presence of his sisters and family. Michael fought leukemia as the spirit of a warrior and the strength of a superhero. During the most difficult time of his life, he brought laughter and love wherever he traveled. He brought a larger than life personality with his charming wit. His heart was worth more than gold. He loved soccer, video games, fishing and blonde nurses. He loved his family and friends more than life. Michael inspired people with his God-like ways and never complained about his pain and suffering throughout his journey. Michael is survived by his mother, Michelle Silverio of Tampa, sisters, Gabrielle and Isabella Scala of Tampa, great-grandmother Gretchen Carney of Newport Richey, FL, grandparents, Stephen Silverio of Philadelphia, PA and Gail Silverio of Tampa, his aunt, Nicole Silverio and children, Jakayla, Devenique and Honesti. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home Carrollwood Chapel on Friday, March 17, 2017. A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM, on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on 12708 N. Dale Mabry Hwy. Tampa, FL 33618. The burial will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Drive, Newport Richey, FL 34655 at 2:30 PM. To celebrate Michael’s life, the family asks everyone to wear blue to the service, as it was Michael’s favorite color.
