HERLONG, MICHELE Blanton, 53, passed away on January 14, 2017 after a very courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Tampa, FL on September 3, 1963. Raised in Indian Harbour Beach, FL where she spent many happy days by the ocean. Michele was a graduate of Satellite High School and Hillsboro Community College. Shortly after college Michele obtained her contractor’s license and was often called "Miss Fix It” because she could truly fix just about anything. She enjoyed walking along Bayshore Blvd to relax and reflect. Michele was very passionate about the educational system and spent her free time volunteering at Roosevelt Elementary School, Coleman Middle School, and Plant High school. She loved all babies especially her own which were her whole world. Michele never met a stranger and people were drawn to her because of her sweet smile, her sincerity and caring personality. She is predeceased by her stepfather, Daniel Curtis. Michele is survived by her husband, David Herlong; son, Michael Blanton, daughters, Sarah and Rachel Herlong; stepchildren, Devin and Amber Herlong; father, Dempsey Blanton; mother Olivia Blanton Curtis; Sisters, Karen (Jeff) Baggs, Dana (Tim) Cornelius; nieces, Kate Lewis, Stephanie Lewis, and Olivia Cornelius; nephews, Stephen Lewis and Matthew Mortorelli; great grand niece and nephew, Scarlett Novak and August Lewis; sister-in-law’s, Stacy Curtis and Laurie Curtis; brother-in-law’s, Bill Curtis and Bob Curtis, and children; and many beloved extended family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10 AM, Blount and Curry MacDill, 605 S MacDill Ave., Tampa, FL. Reception to follow at Palma Ceia Golf and Country club. The family requests that contributions be made to LifePath Hospice in Michele's name.
