Ms. Mildred Ann Thompson (Mim) of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on October 29, 2016. She was born May 17, 1926 to Sibyl and DeWitte Thompson. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Lively Sunday School Class, attended school in Douglasville, GA, Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and graduated from the University of Georgia, Athens where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.



Mildred worked at the Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta, taught school at Douglas County High School and earlier at the elementary school and retired from Lockheed-Georgia Company in 1981.



Mim, as her family and friends called her, loved animals, antiques, restoring old houses, traveling and seashells. She was called the “Shell Lady” around town and decorated boxes covered with shells for just about everyone she knew.



Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, DeWitte and Millie Thompson; niece, Taylor; and nephew, DeWitte, III, all of Johns Creek; cousins, Rebecca Camp of Douglasville, Frances Pritchard of Crawfordville, FL, Linda Wood of Naples, FL, and Ed Thompson of Palm Harbor, FL; companion Louie, a fierce little poodle who enjoyed having breakfast every morning; and special friends who checked on her each day throughout the years and made it possible for her to live at home, Deborah Wall, Valli and Layne Smith, Billy and Connie Miller, Erline Harper and with all her wishes granted by DeWitte and Millie.



Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 3:00 PM from the Rosehaven Chapel. The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home from 2:00 until the funeral hour.



Ms. Thompson will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Villa Rica, GA.
