Mildred Irene Herold “Millie” 87 passed away on February 28, 2017 at Annapolitian Assisted Living after a lengthy Alzheimer’s illness. Millie a resident of Annapolis for the past 52 years was born in Central City, Nebraska on March 27, 1929 to the late Helen (nee Eliason) and Paul Manley.





In Millie’s late teens she worked for Social Security. Seeking a career she then sought employment in many fields such as a secretary for the FBI and a counter lady at Sears Department store. She finally settled with the field of Data Processing at the Anne Arundel County Board of Education the job she would retired from. After retirement she continued her involvement with the Board of Education volunteering with their Informer newsletter. A monthly newsletter full of county activities, teacher contacts and important communications that was sent to all county teachers. This involvement led her to being named to the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.





Hobbies included football (Dallas Cowboys), doll making, crossword puzzles, putting puzzles together, making and decorating wedding cakes and various specialty cakes and reading the Bible.





Millie is preceded in death by her husband Charles J. Herold (March 7, 2007) and her brother Paul E. Manley, Jr. (December 29, 2016). She is survived by four children Craig F. Herold of Annapolis, Conrad P. Herold (Jeannie) of Westminster, Cherri D. Becker of Glen Burnie and Christopher C. Herold of Annapolis, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.





The family will receive visitors at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, MD 21401 on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Andrew by the Bay Catholic Church 701 College Parkway Annapolis, MD 21409 on Wednesday at 9:00 AM. Interment in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville.
