Minnie Ola Davenport, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on Monday September 12, 2016. Minnie was born on April 1, 1928, in De Kalb, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Beatrice Woods and the late Eddie Woods. She was the sister of the late brothers Dave Woods and Willie Woods and her sister the late Maylee Woods. Minnie worked in Housekeeping at Desert Samaritan Hospital before retiring after 34 years. As Minnie stated about her job "I take an interest in my job, I think it's important, I'm proud of it." Minnie was married to George Davenport. Minnie had eight children. The late Theodus Toney, Linda Vinson, Vivian Davenport, Gloria Davenport, Lois Davenport, Scottie Davenport, Georgie Davenport, and the late Tina Davenport. Minnie enjoyed creating handmade, unique quilts and clothing, in which people requested her homemade quilts especially. Minnie also loved to cook homemade meals "from scratch", and her famous desserts like her Lemon Meringue Pies and her homemade biscuits along with other foods. Minnie belonged to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Mesa, Arizona. Minnie is survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Minnie loved her close friends Norma Jean, Francis and Lula. Minnie was a spiritual person, who prayed all the time and she believed in Jesus Christ. Minnie wanted everyone to love each other and to live by the word of Jesus Christ. Minnie will be wholeheartedly missed and was very much loved and cherished by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. She was an example and definition of a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to all those who knew her. She left her wisdom, love and advice with each and every one of us that knew her. She is our angel watching over us in Heaven. The family wishes to thank everyone for their condolences at this difficult time and a special thanks to Meldrum Mortuary and Pastor Ottley W.
