Monty Douglas Yeo went home to be with the Lord at 50 years old on November 16, 2017 in Peoria, AZ. Monty fought cancer for four years like a true warrior. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Monty is survived by his wife, Jennifer Yeo; children, Shane Douglas Yeo, Amanda Paige Yeo, and Olivia Macy Yeo; mother, Julie Carollo and father, Bill Mellott; siblings, Marty Yeo and Mark Mellott.
Monty and his twin brother Marty were born on August 26, 1967 in Monroe, Washington. He graduated from Camelback High School in 1985. Monty joined the United State Navy in August 1985 as a Religious Program Specialist-Petty Officer. He was stationed at: NTC San Diego, Ca; U.S. Naval Command Treasure Island, Ca; USS Niagara Falls AFS-3 Home Port GUAM; Naval Air Station Alameda Island, Ca; Naval Station Coronado Island.
In 1991 Monty married Jennifer. They welcomed their first child Shane into their lives in 1995. They joyfully added to the family with Amanda in 1998 and again with their youngest Olivia in 2004. Monty was an involved father who adored each of his children for their unique talent and abilities.
After moving to Denver, Colorado, Monty began working for Holly Heights Nursing Center as the Activities Director. He was a dedicated individual that loved telling stories and who was passionate about having fun with the residents at Holly Heights. Following his retirement in 2014, the administration memorialized his hard work with a bench that reads "Dedicated to Monty Yeo in respect and admiration. 21 years of service as Holly Heights Activity Director!"
A military funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29th at 11:00amat the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Family and Friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Monty's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Camp Kesem ASU (a nationwide community that supports children through and beyond their parent's cancer) online at http://campkesem.org/donate or Camp Kesem P.O.
