Mrs. Martha J. Sanders went home to be with the Lord and Savior, at the Heavenly appointed hour of 2:07 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the ProMedica Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania , OH. She was born September 17, 1956, in Sprott, Alabama, the first child of the union of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie and Geneva Edwards. After the family moved to Toledo, Ohio, she attended the Martin Luther King Elementary School and was a 1975 graduate of the Jesup W. Scott High School. On June 12, 1982, she united in Holy Matrimony with Mr. Jerry L. Sanders and to this union one child, Jason L. Sanders was born. Martha was employed at the St. Ann Senior Care Center and the Westhaven Pharmacy, over twenty five years. Martha loved gardening and baking and truly loved the Lord and her family. Martha professed her hope and faith in Christ early in life at the Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of the Reverend Dr. John E. Roberts. After marriage, she moved her membership to the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church to be with her husband, under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. H.M. Crenshaw where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, President of the Women's Ministry and served over 25 years on the No, 3 Usher Board, until her health failed. Mrs. Martha J. Edwards-Sanders was preceded in death by father, Jessie, Sr.; brothers, Jessie, Jr. and Fredrick; sisters, Cora and Carolyn. She leaves to mourn, husband, Deacon Jerry Sanders; son Jason, Sr.; grandson, Jason, Jr; stepsons, Reginald and Jermaine Sanders of Fort Wayne, Indiana; mother, Geneva Edwards; brother, Leroy Edwards; sister, Della Edwards and a host of other loving family members and friends.
