Myrna LuAnne Burgoyne, "Aunt Myrna", 81, of Fort Wayne, passed into the arms of our Lord Friday, January 12, 2018. Born in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Naomi (Poorman) Burgoyne. A pianist, former Fort Wayne Philharmonic Choir member, and lifelong lover of music, she was also an active and involved church outreach member of First Presbyterian Church, Fort Wayne; a member of Tri Kappa service sorority and Alpha Phi, Indiana University. She spent her career in the Fort Wayne Community Schools system at Brentwood Elementary as a loving and devoted teacher to her students ("her kids") for nearly 38 years.

Myrna graduated from Auburn High School, Auburn, IN, in 1954, and received her BS degree in teaching from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1958. Myrna also went on to complete her graduate degree in teaching from Indiana University.

Myrna is survived by her best friend and sister, Sandra B. (Burgoyne) Liddell, of Auburn; nieces Buff (Lloyd) Sergent of Charlotte, NC; Tish Liddell of Fort Wayne; Jill (Chad) Conley of Sugar Grove, IL; and nephews Robert (Hazel) Burgoyne of Crossville, TN; Daniel (Kathy) Burgoyne of Chickasha, OK; Keith Burgoyne of Lewisville, TX; and several grand nieces and nephews. Myrna was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dr. Robert Lee Burgoyne.

We will miss her never ending kindness, fun, energetic personality, and bright, beautiful smile that will live on in our hearts. As her family, many cherished students, colleagues, and friends found, she was the sunshine that lit up our lives.

Myrna's service is 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, 300 West Wayne Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. Visitation hours are from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be made to Just Neighbors-Interfaith Homeless Network, Fort Wayne.
