Myrtle Agnes Zelinda Biagi Maher left this earthly life on March 5 at the age of 101.
Born Feb. 13, 1916, Myrtle was a first-generation American born in Chicago, Illinois to immigrant
parents. The only daughter of Agnes Gulbrandsen and Peter Biagi, she and her brothers Joseph, Edward
and Albert cherished their Norwegian and Italian heritages.

It 1937, Myrtle married Russell G. Maher and they began a new life of adventure together. They
enjoyed life in both Illinois and Florida before Russell's entrepreneurial spirit brought them and their
children Joan Maher Monroe and Russell G. Maher Jr. to Oklahoma in 1953.

Myrtle found a career, friends and faith at First Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City. She worked as the
church secretary at First Lutheran for nearly three decades and was honored for her dedication and
service.

In 2016, Myrtle celebrated her 100th birthday with a large gathering of family and friends and was
recognized by Governor Mary Fallin and Mayor Mick Cornett.

Myrtle continued an active daily life with family and kept up with the busy lives of her 7 grandchildren,
19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren from Oklahoma City, Chicago and Ohio until the end.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and aides who helped care for Myrtle
in her final days and who called her "a joy" to meet.

Her family is planning celebration of her life and public memorial service at 10am, March 25 at First
Lutheran Church, 1301 N. Robinson, Oklahoma City. A private family burial was previously held.
