Nancy Carol Sheets, 65, of Hot Springs, passed away July 23, 2017. Nancy was born in Montana to the late Harold and Winnifred Coombe. She was predeceased by her sister Laura Coombe, her brother Jerry Coombe, and by Mike Norman, the love of her life.

Not surprisingly, Nancy is remembered by many as their best friend. Funny, giving, and always ready for the next adventure, she was the one that kept you out too late, but you were having so much fun you didn’t care. A caring nurse, as well as, an amazing friend, Nancy made everyone feel comforted and as though they were family.

On July 4th 2017, her family and friends celebrated the twentieth anniversary of Nancy’s having lived after a brain aneurism. A gifted storyteller, her raspy animated voice became a finger pointing at letters on a spell board. It was up to you to keep up!

Nancy’s optimism, gratitude, and humor were inspiring. When so many others would have been lost and bitter, Nancy kept a long prayer list- worrying about others more than herself. Her perseverance, strength, and courage were an example to friends and family; every moment, a lesson, teaching us that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to make memories.

Nancy was the proud mother of four sons; Toby, Shannon, Justyn, and Casey; and the even prouder grandmother of nine, including McKenzie who was always such a “big help.” Nancy will also be missed by her sister, Vicki, and her two girls, Rhonda and Carol, who Nancy loved as her own.

Nancy’s love extended to her many wonderful caregivers, nurses and extended team at Quapaw. All of these special people, too numerous to mention, provided Nancy with love and dignity in her life. But most especially that love extended to Debbie Pettigrew, who holds a special place in all our hearts for her continual dedication, care, and the love she gave Nancy. Not many have a loved one – or a friend-who would have been as wonderful as “Aunt Deb” has been.
