Naoma Clara Shipp, 88 years old, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2017. Born in Los Angeles on September 11, 1928 to Norman T. Ford and Clara M. (Schneider) Ford.

Naoma grew up in Van Nuys, CA and graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1948, where she received an award for her creative artwork. Following high school, she attended Hollywood Beauty College where she studied to become a beautician and received her CA State license.

Naoma married Gayford Shipp in 1949 in Van Nuys, CA and they were married for 68 years. Naoma was a life-long member of the Church of the Valley in Van Nuys. She loved raising her family, gardening, painting with watercolors, ceramic classes, making flower arrangements for her church, and cherished the many friendships she had.

Naoma is survived by her husband Gayford of West Hills, CA; her daughter Sue (Shipp) Carroll (Seattle, WA), her son Rick Shipp and his wife Carol Shipp (Lancaster, CA), sisters June Walker and Dorothy Johnston, several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Family and friends will always recall Naoma's sweet personality and infectious smile. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Clara.
