Nicholas Andrea Tiniakos June 15, 1939 ~ April 9, 2018 Nicholas “Nick” Andrea Tiniakos, age 78, passed away April 9, 2018 in Vancouver, WA, with family by his side. He was born June 15, 1939, to Nicholas and Clara Tiniakos at Greek Camp in Westport, OR. Nick grew up and graduated from Clastkanie High School in 1957 where he participated in many activities including Football, Baseball and Basketball. After High School, Nick attended Skagit Community College in Mt.Veron, Washington on a scholarship. Later he also attended Portland State University. After college, Nick joined the Army Reserve and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas. In 1963, Nick married Violet “Vie” Gard/Wolff, the love of his life, and became Dad to Scott and Lon. Nick and Vie celebrated 51 years of marriage prior to Vie’s death in 2014. They made their home in Vancouver, WA where they both resided until their death. In 1963 Nick started work at Portland Gas and Coke Company, which later became known as Northwest Natural Gas Company, in Portland, Oregon where he worked for 18 years. In 1982 Nick started his own contracting business building housed in the greater Portland and Vancouver area. Nick was an avid golfer and a longtime member, 34 years, of Royal Oaks Country Club where he and Vie made life long friends. Golf was their passion and they regularly traveled to Palm Springs, CA to play. In addition to Palm Springs, one of their other favorite places to visit was Kona, HA. Nick was a passionate sports fan, and a lifelong, never give up fan of the Oregon State Beavers and the NY Yankees. In the early years, he attended all OSU football games and never lost hope! Nick was a vivacious, outgoing, comedic and passionate man who was devoted to his family and friends. Nick is survived by two sons, Scott (Julie) and Lon (Debbie); and four grandchildren, Ryan, Katelin, Justin and Dustin and one great grandchild Genevieve; sister Darlene Tiniakos Kratky; nieces Kristi Starr and Michele Hager. A celebration of Nick’s life will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98684 on Saturday, May 12, at 12:30 pm.
