Norma Elliott McConnaughhay, nee Henrietta Norma Elliott, passed away on February 24,



2017. She was born in Annapolis, MD on December 25, 1923, to Harry Franklin Elliott and Henrietta Norma (Franklin) Elliott.





Norma was a graduate of Annapolis High School, class of 1940. As a young woman during World War II, she worked at Fort Meade, first at the ice cream counter, and later at the Ration Board on base. After the war, Norma met her husband, Capt. James William McConnaughhay Sr. at a dance at the Naval Academy Officer's Club in 1945 and they married soon afterwards. They lived in Pasadena, CA;



Bethesda, MD; Alameda, CA; Philadelphia, PA; Annapolis, MD; Lakehurst, NJ; before returning to Annapolis. Norma had a successful career as a Realtor. She and her husband James were active members of the Annapolis Yacht Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a competitive golfer, having won many amateur golf tournaments and making a hole-in-one at the Naval Academy golf course.





Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Capt. James William McConnaughhay, Sr. She is survived by her sons, James William McConnaughhay, Jr. (Gail) and Mark Elliott McConnaughhay (Judy), grandchildren Tonyia McConnaughhay, Taylor McConnaughhay, Tiffany (Derek) McConnaughhay, Dustin (Carla) McConnaughhay, Bret McConnaughhay (Racheal), Kelly Kelly (Brian), Ashley Addison (Andrew), great grandchildren Carson McConnaughhay, Molly McConnaughhay, Ashton Addison, Owen Kelly, and Nessa McConnaughhay.
