Norman B. Schaefer, 75, passed away Sunday, June 18 2017 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born March 7, 1942 in Chicago and has been a resident of Libertyville for the past 10yrs. He was a former graphic designer for Playboy Enterprises and Sun Times Media. Norm was a member and Sunday school teacher at Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Lincolnshire and was a founding benefactor and board member of the Safe Haven School in Lake Bluff. He enjoyed fishing, model airplanes, photography, pastel art and most of all story telling. Family was most important to him and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are his wife of 33yrs, Holly Schaefer; 3 children, Wren Gordon, Nicholas (Shannon) Schaefer and Aimee (Rob Gallagher) Schaefer; 5 grandchildren, Molly, Luke, Laurel, Noelle and Nicholas and also by many beloved cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 at Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 30 Riverwoods Road, Lincolnshire, IL 60069. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) in Libertyville. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Safe Haven School or American Cancer Society.
