Norman Langford George Jr. departed to be with his Lord on Monday, August 28, 2017. He was born in Charlotte, NC, lived in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA, and spent his teenage years in Wilmington, NC.

After graduation from Virginia Military Institute and commissioned service in the U.S. Army artillery in Korea, Mr. George pursued a career spanning thirty-five years in commercial real estate lending and brokerage. A devout Christian, Mr. George spread his love of Jesus Christ to everyone he met, including missionary service to international students in Raleigh and Durham. He was married for 43 years to Astrid Parmele George of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was widowed for four years before meeting and marrying the love of his later years, Joyce Walsh Allsbrook of Rocky Mount, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Norman George III and wife Susan, and Astrid George Turner and husband, John; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four step-children; eleven step-grandchildren; and six step-great grandchildren.

A burial service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2 at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh, followed by a visitation of the family at his home in Raleigh from 2:00 until 4:00pm. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, September 3 at 2:00 pm at Catch the Fire Church at 2304 Page Road in Durham. In lieu of flowers, his family request contributions be made to outreach services of Catch the Fire Church.
