Norman Meyer, 86, of Ossian passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017. He was born on June 9, 1930, a son of the late Edwin and Luella (Graft) Meyer. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later worked at Rea Magnet Wire for 38 years before retiring. He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, Ossian where he sang in the choir and served in a number of different capacities. He also belonged to the Lutheran Laymen League and Lutheran Chorale. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing cards, and being with his family. Surviving family include his wife, Leona Meyer; children, Daryl (Laurie) Meyer, Randall (Clara) Meyer, Debra (Dave) Chase, Brent Meyer; 12 grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Baker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by a granddaughter, Emily Meyer; sister, Arlene Aurand; and a daughter-in-law, Gail Meyer. Funeral service will be 10:30 am on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at New Hope Lutheran Church, 8824 North State Road 1, Ossian with a visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian. Memorials may be made to New Hope Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hour Ministries, or Cancer Services of NE Indiana.
