ORGA "YVONNE" VANDRESE COX FUNERAL HOME BASTROP, LOUISIANA Orga “Yvonne” Vandrese, a 30 year resident of Rockwall, Texas, passed away April 1, 2018, at the age of 79. She was born December 4, 1938, in Bastrop, Louisiana to Daniel David and Mary Alice (Smith) Cockrell. Yvonne was the first in her family to receive a college degree. She accomplished this with four young boys at home, at one time all under the age of five! Yvonne received her Master of Education degree from Northeast Louisiana University. She was very athletic and enjoyed fitness. Yvonne took pride in her health and stayed very active. She loved traveling and her favorite place to visit was the mountains. In her younger day she adored snow skiing. A school teacher, Yvonne was extremely intelligent and could complete the New York Times crossword puzzle in pen, in under 15 minutes! A member of Lakepointe Church, she was a devoted mother and grandmother and always cared for her family. Although she lived in Texas, Yvonne never forgot her roots in Louisiana. Louisiana was always her home. Yvonne is survived by her loving husband, Bill Vandrese of Rockwall; mother, Mary Alice Cockrell of Monroe, Louisiana; four sons, Mike Pugh and wife Cheryl of Rowlett, Texas, Kelly Pugh and wife Unaka of Spring, Texas, Mark Pugh and wife Joan of Delhi, Louisiana, and Joel Pugh and wife Jeannie of Dallas, Texas; brothers: Glen Cockrell of Monroe, Louisiana, Jack Cockrell and wife Patricia of Bastrop, Louisiana, Brent Cockrell and wife Cheryl of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Keith Cockrell and wife Pam of Florence, Mississippi; and nine grandchildren along with seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father David Cockrell; and late husband, Travis Pugh. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Lakepointe Church Chapel, 701 I-30, Rockwall, Texas 75087, with Pastor Harold “Red” Webster officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Cox Funeral Home, 611 N. Washington St., Bastrop, Louisiana followed by graveside funeral services at 2:00 pm at the Carter Cemetery, Collinston, Louisiana with Bro. Paul Solice officiating.
