Oscar Bryan Upchurch, 84, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on June 6, 2017. Born in New Hill, NC to the late Dennis P. Upchurch and Alon L. Howard, Bryan was drafted into the military in 1953 and participated in Operation Castle atomic test at Eniwetok Proving Ground, Marshall Island in 1954. After serving his country, he returned home to establish his building and real estate company. He married Mildred McNair Upchurch on March 12, 1961 with whom he enjoyed 56 years of marriage.

Bryan held an unlimited general contractor's license since 1967, and built many custom homes throughout Wake County. He was a real estate broker for 50 years, and a charter member of the Wake County Wildlife Club where he served as President and on the Board of Directors. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and the North Carolina Wildlife Federation where he served as President and Chairman of the Education and Endowment Fund.

In addition to his loving wife, Mildred, he is survived by his two daughters, Sandra U. Pearce and JoAnn U. Howard of Raleigh; grandchildren, Austin R. Pearce, Lauren E. Howard, J. Douglas Howard, and Hunter B. Pearce; step granddaughter, Samantha Howard; great granddaughter, Faith E. Angellini; and brother, Robert H. Upchurch.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Linwood D. Upchurch, Norman H. Upchurch, Carl F. Upchurch, and sister, M. Frances Musick.

The family will receive friends from 11am-12:30pm on Friday, June 9, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh. Private burial will be at Raleigh Memorial Park.
