Pam Jo Hughes Born November 14, 1958 in Hopkinsville Kentucky, regretfully passed away on Wednesday December 13th, 5:30 pm at the City of Hope after a long battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer. She passed away with her loving family by her side until the very end.

Pam's far reaching legacy began at her conception between two amazing parents, Joseph Hughes and Lilian Downs, as an only child Pam had big dreams and goals and thru hard work and perseverance conquered them all. Joe and Lilian instilled in her the foundation of hard work which she took with her as she Graduated from the Western Kentucky University school of dental in 1979 receiving a degree in dental hygiene. Wouldn't you know it, her dreams and of course her Oldsmobile Cutlass would deliver her to Southern California.

Pam settled quickly into a dental practice in the San Fernando valley Where she met a man named Steve Yantzer who sat down in her Hygiene chair. Pam didn't take to Steve immediately, but after dozens of visits and thousands of dollars and maybe one Hawaii trip she was smitten. Their courtship wasn't long, but it was long enough to know they would be together forever, and on June 9th, 1990 they said I do and were married. Her accolades grew after the marriage, they read like a book, president of the California hygiene association, President of the California dental hygiene educators association, a master's degree in gerontology from the university of La Verne that would eventually cement herself into a position as a professor at USC dental school. She was very proud of her position as a professor but never let that go to her head, she always remained humble identifying as a dental hygienist FIRST, the profession that started it all.

Pam's accomplishments were dwarfed only by the love in her heart that brought sunshine into the darkness. She lit up the lives of not only Steve but his two children Michael and Stephanie who she accepted as her own. She truly was an amazing wife, mother and friend. She did so many things for so many people, she gave and gave until she could give no longer. She was the strongest and most amazing woman to walk this earth and will most certainly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Although her body has left us, her love will occupy our hearts and her spirit will live on forever.
