Patricia Ann Gates, 78, of Cross Lanes, WV, went home to be with her Lord and family September 21, 2016.

Pat was born August 19, 1938 in Lincoln County, WV. She graduated early from Duval High School with high honors and attended Business College in Charleston. She was employed by Columbia Gas Transmission as a senior clerk for 2 decades before her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tyler Mountain where she enjoyed fellowship and singing in the choir. Pat also gained accolades in her early life as a National Spelling Bee champion and even saw a short singing career with her sisters as the trio traveled statewide to perform at community events and even a national radio broadcast.

She was a selfless, kind-hearted, patience, beautiful grandmother, mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed traveling, beach trips, cooking, reading, rocking and laughing. She was an avid, faithful fan of any sport any of her grandchildren were playing. Pat’s biggest success in life was being the world’s greatest nanny.
