Patricia "Patsy" Kitchens, 82, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018. She was born January 7, 1936 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, daughter of the late Turner Thomas and Marian (Green) Haywood. Patsy joined the Union Valley Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. J.W. Carr and was baptized March 11, 1947. She graduated from LHS in 1953 (still meeting monthly for lunch) and went to Indianapolis to seek employment. She enjoyed bingo, cooking, and making deserts. She loved her friends and family. She worked for the IRS as a keypunch operator and later as the office manager at American Standard.. She is survived by her 2 sons, Jeffery Thomas of Louisville, KY, Gilbert (Lisbet) Thomas of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Karla Thomas of Los Angeles, CA; 3 grandchildren, Sean Terrell, Ryan Thomas, Christopher Thomas; great-grandchild, Jaylen Thomas; 3 nephews, Gregory (Deby) Thomas, Bobby (Connie) Turner, Thomas Bowens; 4 step-sons, Bruce Kitchens, Greg Kitchens, Bernett Kitchens Jr., Edward Jumper; 2 step-daughters, Sheila Kitchens, Renee Jumper; and numerous other nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Turner Thomas and Marian Haywood, step-father, John T. Haywood, husband, Bernett Kitchens; grandson, Gilbert Thomas Jr.; sister, Marian Bowens, half-brother, Robert Turner, and step-brother, John Haywood Jr. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 11 am to 1 pm at Union Valley Baptist Church, 530 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at Union Valley Baptist Church, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1 pm, with Rev. Sheldon Rox officiating. Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or American Cancer Society.
