Patricia Thompson Jones (Patty), a truly gracious lady, passed away on August 12, 2017 in Kansas City, Missouri. Patty was born January 3, 1921 in Oklahoma City to Jane Hardenstein and Risk Thompson, Sr. Her grandparents Dr. and Mrs. Frank W. Hardenstein and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Thompson came to Oklahoma City before statehood. Patty was in the first graduating class, 1932, of Nichols Hills Elementary School. She attended Shepherd's Private School and Classen High School graduating in 1938. Patty attended OU where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta and participated in many campus activities and was honored as Ruf-Nek Queen in 1939. After graduating in 1942 with a B.A. in Journalism, Patty married her college sweetheart Richard Dean (Dick) Jones on August 9th of that year. This was during the war years and she and Dick had 13 changes of station before Dick was sent overseas. After Dick returned from the war, Dick's career gave them the opportunity to live in eight major cities and states while raising their two children, Richard and Janie. Patty found people wonderful everywhere she went and she cherished the experiences and splendid opportunities. Following Dick's death, Patty returned to Oklahoma City after living away for 25 years. Patty was a member of the Junior League, Kappa Alpha Theta, Oklahoma City Art League, Philomathea Study Club, Thursday Book Club, Dig and Hope Garden Club, and much more. She was honored as 2002 Theta of the Year and also received her 75 year Theta pin. She loved playing bridge and going to Town Hall, the Jewel Box, and the Lyric. In 2014 Patty moved to Kansas City to be near her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed a great time with the wonderful folks in her retirement living community. Patty could be found playing bridge, performing in skits and choir, attending plays, watching OU and Chiefs football, and always making the social events as she was very much a "people" person. Patty's smile and bright outlook would light up a room. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Dean Jones, and her brother Risk Thompson Jr. Patty is survived by her son, Richard Dean Jones, Jr. (Patricia) of Homestead, FL and her daughter Janie Jones Fickle of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Tara Fickle Bennett (Bob) of Parkville, MO and William Dick Fickle, Jr. of Blue Springs, MO; great grandchildren Caroline, Ryan, and Patrick Bennett of Parkville MO; her sister Jerry Thompson of Oklahoma City and sister-in-law Mary Jones of New Canaan CN; nieces Cynthia McCurdy (Tim) of Edmond OK and Robin Jones of Tucson, AZ;, nephews Risk Thompson III (Victoria) of Sault Ste Marie MI, Charles O.
