Patricia Trainum Field, a life-long resident of Annapolis, passed away from natural causes after a courageous battle at her residence on August 31, 2017. “Pat” or “Trish” as she was known to her family and friends was born on December 8, 1939 in Craigsville, Virginia to the late Ruth and Patrick Trainum. She attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in General Sciences. She was employed at David Taylor Research and Development Center from 1966 to 1994. Throughout her career she worked on weapons analysis, shipboard survivability, submarine signature analysis, and retired as the Program Manager of the Electrical Systems Department. She volunteered at the Eastport Maritime Museum and in her spare time enjoyed golf, gardening and fishing. She is survived by her partner Karoleen Schafer; three sons, Patrick Field of Hawley, Pennsylvania, Sean Field of Lusby, Maryland, and Andrew Field of Chester, Virginia; their respective spouses Matthew Rupcich, Jo Ann Field and Tia Field; and sisters, Ruthie Barnett and Alice Lester of Salem, Virginia. She is also survived by six of her beloved grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, MD 21401 on Saturday from 5 to 8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday at 11 am. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 5 pm at Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan, Virginia.
