PATRICIA WHITE THOMSON, 69, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital with her son by her side. Pat was a mother, a career women, a master gardener, and an asset to the communities with which she lived and worked. Born in Boston, Mass., she raised her son on the west coast, forged a prosperous career in both the midwest and on the east coast, and settled in Fort Wayne shortly after retirement at the age of 52 to be closer to her dearly loved son.

For Pat retirement did not mean stop working. Eager to share her love of gardening, she offered classes as a master gardener to the neighborhood. She tirelessly carried petitions to rebuild the sidewalks and curbs on Tacoma Ave. She spearheaded efforts to fight the emerald ash borer within her neighborhood. She donated to worthy causes and gave her time and energy freely.

Affectionately known as the disc fairy she gave her time to the Waynedale Branch Library, regularly volunteered to help the Positive Resource Dinner Dance, tended the Rankin House gardens as a volunteer for Arch, and served as a key volunteer for several Home and Garden tours. Pat believed in building a better future. She built connections and planted many seeds of friendship throughout her community and her life. She will truly be missed.

Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne. www.klaehnfahlmelton.com
