Patrick Joseph Colliton
(Age 63)

Passed away at his home in Mclean, VA of cancer on Wednesday, April 26th surrounded by his devoted wife, three loving children and dear friend, Gilbert.

Born August 22, 1953, the third of nine children in Washington DC, Pat was a proud graduate of Georgetown Preparatory High School, class of 1971, in Bethesda, MD. Patrick attended Georgetown University, graduating in 1975, followed by his MBA from George Washington University. He had a successful career in both mortgage banking and in finance.

One of Pat's greatest memories was playing offensive tackle in football, most memorably on the undefeated 1970 city-championship team at Georgetown Prep. He had four fun-filled years at Georgetown University, making many life-long friends and lasting memories. While in college (and for the ten years following college), Pat was a well-known and beloved bartender in DC, nicknamed "The Whale" Colliton by friends and bar-goers. He was an avid Georgetown basketball and Washington Redskin fan, fondly remembering the glory days despite a lack of recent winning. In his words, "JT3 had to go."

Pat and Melinda moved to Mclean, VA in 1990 to raise their three children, Chris, Lindsay and Jason. Pat will be remembered for his larger than life personality and big heart. He generously donated his time and energy to Mclean Youth Sports as a parent, coach, and referee. Many will remember his booming voice and passion for teaching children the joy of team sports. Pat was a loving and devoted father, husband and friend.Patrick is survived by his wife of 30 years, Melinda, and his grown children, Christopher, Lindsay and Jason, his mother, Margaret "Peg" Colliton, and eight brothers and sisters: Sherry, Michael (Karen), Billy, Tim, Matt (Felice), Andy (Kathy), Mary Kay and Theresa, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Dr William F. Colliton Jr.
A visitation will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, May 6th at The Church of the Little Flower, 5608 Massachusetts Ave. Bethesda, MD. 20816, followed immediately by A Mass of Christian Burial at 1 PM. Patrick will be laid to rest at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA. The family will host a reception afterwards in Virginia.
