Paul E. Keck, DDS

Dr. Paul E. Keck of Ligonier, PA and Annapolis, MD died December 27, 2016. He was the son of the late Marie (Meinfisch) and Percy T. Keck, and the beloved husband of the late Shirley (Painter) Keck for 59 years. He was the proud father of five sons: Dr. Paul E Keck, Jr. (Susan) of Cincinnati, OH; Eric C. Keck (Kristen) of Philadelphia, PA; Jordie A. Keck (Maureen) of Annandale, VA; Christopher T. Keck of Annapolis, MD; and Mark C. Keck of Dallas, TX. He was also the proud grandfather of Timothy, Jason, Brennen, Bryson, Katherine, Ryan and Molly Keck.

Dr. Keck was a graduate of Coraopolis High School and completed post-graduate work at Valley Forge Military Academy. He was a 1953 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College (F&M), where he starred on the only undefeated football team in the college’s history and is member of the F&M Sports Hall of Fame as part of that team. Dr. Keck graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1957. He practiced dentistry in Crafton and Blairsville, PA and was Chief of Dental Services at Torrance State Hospital from 1967-1991.

After serving six years in active duty in the United States Air Force, Dr. Keck continued his military career in the 911th Air Force Reserve, retiring as a Lt. Colonel and receiving two commendation medals, one for heroism.

Dutiful, faithful, tough and devoted, Paul was as fine a husband, father and grandfather as could be. He loved military history and football, and gloried in the achievements of his children and grandchildren. He had the heart of a lion.

Dr. Keck was predeceased by his wife Shirley, sisters Carol Tortorice and Betty Fielder, and brother Ernest Keck. He is survived by two siblings: Percy and Robert Keck.
