On the autumn night of September 22, 1926, Paul Henry was born in a rented apartment at 73rd St., and Sangamon Ave in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were Olaf Hilmer and Judith Carlson, who had immigrated from Sweden just a few years prior. His older sisters, Corinne, Ingrid, and Elsie preceded him in death.

After high school in Chicago, Paul was inducted into the Army and served our country in WWII, stationed in Hawaii as a Master Sergeant. Paul married Dorothy Jean Hunt on April 2, 1949.

He worked as a photo engraver for a publishing company in Chicago and later as a physical therapy assistant in North Carolina, helping children with special needs. His love for drawing took him to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina where he painted many beautiful landscapes.

First and foremost, Paul's deep love for Jesus Christ is seen in all aspects of his life and service for God in the church. Paul went home to his Lord on May 2, 2017.

Paul is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy; four sons, Dave, Rick, Ken and Brian; eight grandchildren, Amy, Matt, Emily, Britta, Ingrid, Jed, Nathan and Olivia; and four great-grandsons, Daniel, Luke, Paul and Joseph.

Paul's family will receive visitors from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A Funeral Service honoring Paul will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Monday, May 8, 2017, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
