Paula J. Weyant of S. Blooming Grove, NY, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017. She was 73 years old. Paula was born in Newburgh, NY on July 21, 1943 to the late Alfred and Gertrude (Mega) Cosman.
She was an active participant in many quilt workshops, Warwick Valley Quilt Guild and sewing\embroidery clubs at Above and Beyond Sewing Shop, Nanuet, NY as well as Cornwall Yarn Store.
Paula enjoyed quilt retreats at Keene Lodge-Waymart PA, Frost Valley WYMCA-Claryville, NY and Space Camp, Blairstown, NJ. She especially enjoyed the bus trips to Lancaster, PA to check out all the wonderful quilt fabric. She enjoyed many trips with Mount Saint Mary, Desmond Campus, Newburgh, NY.
She also loved knitting American Doll clothes for her granddaughters. A highlight with her granddaughters, among many, was when she took them to the American Girl Store in NYC to go for tea and to shop.
Paula worked as a customer service representative for Orange and Rockland Utilities and later, as a retiree, became the secretary of the Orange and Rockland Retirees Association.
Paula will be remembered by all as an extremely kind and compassionate woman who exuded energy and vigor throughout her life.
Paula is survived by her beloved husband, Roy G. Weyant; loving children, Andrew Weyant, Michael Weyant and his wife Jill Rennert and Jennifer Rydell and her husband Michael; caring brother and sister, Bradford Cosman and Patti McCauley and her adoring grandchildren, Lindsey, Cassandra, Mia, Lila and Ella.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 9:45 am to 11:45 am at the DAVID T. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 20 North St., Washingtonville, NY. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:45 am with burial to follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
