Mrs. Pauline 'Polly' Pittman Pate, age 92, of Kennesaw, GA, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Mrs. Pate was born on March 2, 1925 in Townley, Alabama, a daughter to the late John A. Pittman and Bessie Patton Pittman.
Mrs. Pate retired after twenty five years as a Purchasing Agent for Costal States Life Insurance Company. Along with diligently working in the insurance field she raised all eight of her children alone. She also enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music, especially Jimmy Swaggart; she also sang with her family and was even on Southern Gospel radio in Nashville. One of her favorite pass times was watching the Atlanta Braves and working in her yard. Polly was an exceptional woman who spent her life giving all she to her family and those she loved. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend; Polly will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Along with her parents Polly is preceded in death by two children, Terry Lee Pate and Nedra J. Aguirre; brothers, Fred A. Pittman, Elmer H. Pittman, Buddy Pittman, Sonny Pittman, and George Pittman; and five sisters, Margaret Miller, Helen Brady, Ruby Wright, Clara Pittman, and Lula Green.
She is survived by her five sons, Tommy (Brenda) Pate of Social Circle, GA., Larry (Jean) Pate of Smyrna, GA., Roy (Brenda) Pate of Marietta, GA., Jerry (Brenda) Pate of Dallas, GA., and Terry Lynn Pate of Knoxville, TN.; two daughters, Teresa Gaffney of Kennesaw and Patty G Pate of Kennesaw, GA.; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Pate will be held at three o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in the chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home with Iuveni Gutierrez officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the funeral home.
