Phillip Donald 'Don" Barge, Sr., 84, of Stewart Drive, Cartersville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Cartersville Medical Center.
Mr. Barge was born September 10, 1932 in Atlanta, Georgia, son of the late George Edward Barge and Nora Congor Barge. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and was retired from Nabisco and was known as the Cookie Man. He loved playing golf; loved people; was very patriotic man and loved his country. He was active in the American Legion and the Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Jo Harper Barge; his children, Donnie Barge (Susan), Bobby Barge (Evie), Belinda Darnell (Barry); grandchildren, Damon Barge (Kayla Black), DeAnna Cordle (Jason), Bree Nelson (Patrick), Kristi Thomas (Brandt), David Darnell; 4 great grandchildren and 3 on the way; a step grandson, Taff Wren and the late Andrew Wren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning July 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Tutterow officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with U.S. Navy honors.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Owen Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will include David Darnell, Rusty Adams, Damon Barge, Brandt Thomas, Patrick Nelson, Jason Cordle, Taff Wren.
