Ralph “Hoppy” Hopkins, 90, of Savanna, IL, passed away April 2, 2017 in Brandon, FL. He moved to Florida in 1953. Ralph proudly joined the United States Army at the age of 16 to serve in WWII in France and Germany. While serving he received a Purple Heart.
His interests included Dodge trucks, driving the push-truck at East Bay Raceway, racing boats on the Alafia River and traveling with his son. His love was working at Hoppy’s Mower Repair in Brandon, FL. There was always a smiling face when he showed up anywhere and he always had a new joke to tell. He will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Hopkins, Sr. and Ella Paasch. Ralph is survived by his son, Ronnie Hopkins of Riverview, FL; daughter, Vickie Hopkins-Graham of Reston, VA; sister, Marjorie Layman of Elgin, IL; granddaughter, Michelle Thompson and great-granddaughters, Megan and Ashley Whitmer.
