Ralph Fazio, 90, widower of Juanita Selvey Fazio, formally of Fayetteville, West Virginia passed away peacefully Friday, October 16, 2015 in Newberry, SC surrounded by his family. He was born July 29, 1925 in Gary, WV to the late Dominick and Josephine Trepasso Fazio. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Ernie and Tom Fazio.
Ralph was a graduate of Oak Hill High School in WV. Upon his high school graduation he enlisted in the US Navy during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Gunner’s Mate Third Class. Ralph then went on to attend Glenville State College in WV. In 1948 while attending college he married Juanita Brendt Selvey of Fayetteville WV. Ralph graduated from Glenville State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He began his teaching career in the early 1960’s with the Fayette County School system which included Ansted, Kingston, Gauley Bridge and Mt. Hope Schools. Ralph was also a track, basketball and football Coach during his career with the Fayette County School system.
Ralph was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Bridge Haven Golf Club in Fayette, WV. He enjoyed West Virginia Mountaineers Football and also Marshall University Football.
Left to carry on his memory is his only child, Katy Jo Fazio Ware of Prosperity, SC; his granddaughter, Leslie Megan Ware (Tim Smith) of Lexington, SC; his grandson, Michael Justin Ware of Pomaria, SC. He was also blessed with three great-granddaughters, Leslie, Leigha and Leighton Ware also of Pomaria, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bridge Haven Golf Club, 295 Browns Rd., Fayetteville, WV 25840.
The family will be at the residence of Tim Smith and Megan Ware, 54 Industrial Drive, Lochgelly, WV.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home in Fayetteville, WV with graveside services to immediately follow at Huss Memorial Park in Fayetteville, WV.
