RANDALL LAWRENCE SCHEEL June 26, 1952 ~ March 25, 2015 Randall Lawrence Scheel of Vancouver, Washington, passed away March 25, 2015 after a hard-fought battle against liver cancer. He was at home surrounded by family and friends and went peacefully to be with the Lord. Randy was born in St. Helen's, Oregon to John and Edith Scheel. His family moved to Vancouver in 1955 and he graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1970. Randy graduated from University of Washington in 1974 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. He later attended PLU and received a Master's of Education Degree. He taught high school in northeast Montana for two years and then went on to the University of Houston, Texas where he received another Master's Degree in Studies of The Future. Randy married the love of his life, Vicki Jackson, in December of 1984. Shortly after they married, they moved to Los Angeles, California where Randy worked for Southern California Gas Company. He worked in Public Affairs and Corporate Strategic Planning helping to forecast the future of the company. Randy wrote 2 books on the subject of future planning and continued to pursue his futurist interests for many years. He was asked by numerous businesses and organizations for assistance and guidance in "how to" more efficiently and effectively manage their companies in current conditions and for the future. Randy and Vicki eventually returned to Vancouver where they managed Fort Vancouver Convalescent Center, Park Lido Assisted Care and Caretique. He was highly respected by his colleagues in this industry. He was also involved in many community activities and organizations providing support, wisdom and guidance in furthering the goals of these organizations. He served on many boards contributing advice which was much appreciated by everyone with whom he served. Those boards included The Elder Justice Center, The Washington Healthcare Association and The Vancouver YMCA with special support of the Chaplaincy program. Randy had daring trips on his Harley Davidson in his youth. He enjoyed traveling and had such an adventurous spirit that he later began race car driving, mountain climbing and rock climbing. He visited Nepal and he climbed Mt. Kala Pattar in the Himalayas. He hiked many mountains in the Northwest, fished many streams and lakes, spent time gardening and especially loved "extreme topiary". He was also an avid reader of all kinds of books and a competitive tennis player. Randy never lost his work ethic and would work countless hours to achieve the best possible outcome of the task before him. He lived life to the fullest and happily accepted any challenge placed before him. His is favorite bible verse was Romans 8:38-39. " For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor Angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Randy is survived by his wife, Vicki; his mother, Edith Scheel; his brother, Mike Scheel (Julie); niece, Kim Sheron (Chad), Maddie and Carter; cousins, Bob Powers (Sandra), Kay Richter; Mother and Father-in-Law, Mel and Dorothy Jackson; brother-in-law, Steve Jackson (Anne); nephew, Daniel Jackson (Shoshanna); nieces, Michelle Demeter (Sean), Presley. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 3PM, Evergreen Bible Church, 9600 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98664. There will be a private family burial at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evergreen Bible Church Missions or the Vancouver, Washington YMCA Chaplaincy program.
