Randolph Lee "Spike" Shaw, Jr. was born April 27, 1948 in Oklahoma City, Ok. to Alberta "Peaches" Gibson Shaw and Randolph "Randy" Lee Shaw, Sr. He was the second of three children. Randy grew up in a tight knit family that loved to travel, spent summers on the water and always had larger than life holiday celebrations.

As a child, Randy loved water sports. He would spend hours swimming in the pool and water skiing on Lake Texoma with his family. Randy became a certified SCUBA diver at the age of 9, beginning a lifetime love.

He attended Oklahoma State University and then Randy served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana.

Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Oklahoma City to join the family's business, Beverly's restaurants. After a decade in the restaurant industry, Randy left to pursue his passion. He became a partner in a dive shop in Edmond, Ok. and was certified as NAUI dive instructor 9102 in 1985. In 1995, Randy joined the leadership team of NAUI, the world's leading non-profit association of scuba diver training. He had a passion for diver's education and underwater safety, and he was instrumental in curriculum development for many NAUI courses. One of the highlights of his career was building NAUI's international operations, where he traveled to dive centers around the world, making lifelong friendships and earning the nickname "Mr. NAUI." Randy spent 22 years at NAUI in numerous roles and retired earlier this year as the longest tenured employee in the history of the organization.

Randy passed peacefully in his sleep the morning of July 22, 2017 in Panama City Beach, Fla., following a glorious day with family and friends, being his typical vibrant, engaged, generous and humorous self. His death was shockingly unexpected. Randy's time with us has been prematurely cut short, but we know he is with his Heavenly Father.

Randy is survived by his daughter, Ashley Craig; grandchildren, Jacob and Morgan Craig; sister, Randye Shaw Glenn; nieces, Erin Glenn, Hillary Glenn, Shawn Glenn Chick, and Brandy Glenn Lucas; very special great nieces and nephews, Chloe and Gavin Chick, and Leif and Pippa Lucas. He was preceded by his brother, James Luther Shaw.

He loved abundantly and was greatly loved by his family, global NAUI friends, his Buckhorn golf buddies and all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life for Randy will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home, 2323 West Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511.
