Dr. Florez was born on May 14, 1924 and passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017.

Dr. Florez was a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio at the time of passing.

He graduated from the National University of Medicine in Bogota, Colombia, and came to the United States in 1951 where he interned and completed his residency at several New England hospitals including St. Raphael's Hospital in New Haven Connecticut, St. Charles in New York City, Lakeville Sanatorium in Massachusetts, and Leahy Clinic in Boston.

He was an accomplished horseback rider at the age of 7, an attacking right wing in soccer, a military veteran of the Colombian army credited with the peaceful capture of a German submarine in 1945, a renowned orthopedic surgeon, a fisherman, a cook, a credible ballroom dancer, a competitive marksman in skeet and trap, bilingual in Spanish and English, conversant in French and German, an aficionado of classical tenors, and most importantly a family man.
