Raymond Otho Crockett was born on June 17, 1939 in Dallas, Texas to Temple Otho Crockett and Nettie Elizabeth (Cartwright) Crockett. He was raised and educated in Carlsbad, graduating from Carlsbad High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force t the age of 18 and spent the next 28 years advancing from an Airman to Technical Sergeant. He received many accolades during his time in the service, including writing the Air Force Song. He received the Bronze Star, but it took him 40 years to receive his metal. He received his honorable discharge at the age of 38. Raymond married Cherilynn Kay (Gunkle) Crockett in 1991 in Carlsbad, New Mexico but they made their home in Glendale, Arizona. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother and one daughter, Miracle Crockett. He is survived by his wife, Cherilynn of Glendale Arizona: one daughter, Deedrie Corder of San Antonio, Texas: one brother, Jimmy Crockett of Carlsbad, New Mexico: three sisters; Pat Crockett of Gainesville, Florida; Minner L. Crockett and Hazle L. Crockett (George) of Phoenix, Arizona: two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law of Texas, Oklahoma, and Iowa.
