Rhoda Dee Pierz, 67, passed peacefully into the evening on Sunday, April 15, 2018.

Rhoda was born on July 7, 1950. She was raised in Franklin Park, IL, and graduated from East Leyden High School in 1968. Growing up she spent many summers at the family Lodge on Milne Lake in Hayward, WI. Eventually, she and her first husband, Bob Poreda, moved to Hayward to live in the Little House, the family cabin on Bullhead Lake, with their 2 children, Brandi Joy and Jason B.

After living up north for 12 years, Rhoda returned to the Chicagoland area where she rejoined the family business, Coin Mechanisms, Inc., remarried and was widowed by her second husband, Michael Parratore, and established Odyssey Acres Alpaca Ranch in Marengo, IL. Rhoda and her companion, Frank, cared for and cherished several dogs, a cat, and 26 alpacas.

Rhoda was much loved by her family and friends for her kindness, love of life, and mischievous nature. Gramma Rhoda, also known as Grandma Castle House, adored her grandchildren. One would never escape Gramma's house without reassuring words and a big hug.

Rhoda is survived by her children, Brandi (nee Poreda) (Michael) Blaesing of Loves Park, IL and Jason (Amanda) Poreda of Addison, IL; her brother Stanley (Suzanne) Pierz of Roselle, IL, and half-sister Sherry (Richard) Sneberger of Cave Creek, AZ; grandchildren Brenton "Renee", Gerek, and Clara Blaesing, and Elexa, Ethen, and Everet Poreda; her "Old Man" Frank "Spooky" Vitale; and "bonus" son Robert (Gina) Maida of Aurora, IL, many nieces, nephews, cousins, step-children/grandchildren, and many friends.
