Richard A. Andre’ departed this life on Monday, November 9, 2015, cradled in the loving arms of his wife Cynthia, to be reunited with his beloved parents, Bernard (B.E.) and Alene, along with his brother, Johnnie.





He is survived by his son, Douglas(Jane); stepson Morgan( Traci) Smith; Step-granddaughters, Kara, Makenna, Kori and Kinley; Sisters-in-law, Janet (Sam) Paul, Donna (Ronnie) Miller, and Paula Johnson; along with his nieces and nephews.





Richard’s work in the preservation of History has answered the age old question, “Why was I born? He retired from the mortgage business in 1976 and has devoted his time to the study of the past. He was especially interested in the preservation of vintage photographs.



A lifelong resident of Charleston, his love for the Capital City has inspired numerous newspaper and magazine articles. His books include: Kanawha County Images Volumes I and II, Roar Lions Roar, Charleston High School: A Pictorial History: Capitals of West Virginia, Bullets and Steel: The Fight for the Greater Kanawha Valley, 1861-1865 along with Sternwheelers on the Great Kanawha.





A funeral service to Celebrate the Life of Mr. Richard A. Andre’ will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Bartlett Burdette Cox Funeral Home with H.R. Whittington as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
