Dr. Richard C. Combs, 72, of Bloomington died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in Golden Living Center. He was born March 30, 1944 in Nappanee, Indiana to Melville Combs and Doris (Engerud) Combs.
He graduated from Indiana University in 1966 where he played drums in the Marching Hundred. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1970 and served his country as a Physician in the United States Air Force. He established his medical practice in Bloomington in 1985 as a Nephrologist. He was dedicated to providing quality of life to the patients he served. He was an avid IU and Pacers fan, and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Todd Combs of Bloomington, Ryan Combs (Erin) of Hollywood, FL, Adam Combs (Sylvia) of Newark, Delaware, Jeremy Gill (Lori) of Bloomington and Nathan Gill of Chicago; a brother, Ed Combs (Brenda); a sister, Pamela Larkey (John); eleven grandchildren, Alyssa Doutlick, Tyler Doutlick, Logan Doutlick, Abby Combs, Savanah Combs, Aiden Combs, Ava Combs, Alex Combs, Emma Combs, Grayson Gill and Jackson Gill; a son-in-law, Shaun Doutlick; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Laurie Doutlick; and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Combs.
Dr. Combs had attended Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third ST. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. Burial will be immediately following funeral services at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
