Richard I. Wendeln, age 94, passed away Dec. 10th. He was born April 23, 1923 in Minster, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (Overman); parents, Edward and Catherine (Utz) Wendeln; four brothers, Edward, Robert, Cyril and Walter and one sister, Regina. He is survived by one sister, Audrey; his four children, son, Dick (Mary Jo Mosier) of Florence, KY, daughters, Mary Ann of Dayton, OH, Rita (Steve) Crosby of Union, OH and Patti (Rick) Deis of Urbana, OH ; seven grandchildren, Rebekka (David) Ehlers, Rita (Johnathan) Tharp, Jessica (Jonathan) James, Melissa (Adam) Rosenberg, Mary Deis, Dottie (Mikal) Estep and Eddie Deis; five great-grandchildren, Carson and Colby Hosier, Trinity and Joshua James, Carter Christian and two due February and June. He was a member of Saint Rita's Church Dayton and Knights of Columbus Council 4022, fourth degree, member of Fr. Kuhlman Assembly. He served his country during WWII as a member of the 101st Airborne, "Screaming Eagles", rank of Stf. Sgt. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am on Saturday, Dec. 16th, 2017 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 5401 N Main St, Dayton, OH 45415 with burial immediately following at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton. Friends may call from 5pm until 8pm on Friday, Dec. 15th, 2017 at Tobias Funeral Home - Englewood Chapel, 675 W. Wenger Rd., Englewood, OH 45322. We would like to thank the staff at McAuley Center at Siena Woods for the care and attention they gave to Richard.
