Richard Kimball Keddington, born May 19, 1942, son of Samuel Richard and Dorothy Kimball Keddington Dyer, passed away peacefully at home, on December 27, 2017, surrounded by family. Richard was incredibly patient and gracious throughout a long battle with cancer.
Richard attended East High School and later graduated from the University of Utah and was a member of Delta Phi Kappa fraternity. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints to the North British Mission from 1961-1963. Richard served honorably in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel. During his career he was the Chief Medical Materials Officer of the 20th Tactical Fighter Wing Hospital and worked closely with the Royal Air Force in Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, England. Later he was an Air Force hospital administrator in Maryland and in New Mexico during Desert Storm. While with the Air Force in England, he met and married Lynda Humphris on October 5, 1974 for time and all eternity in the London, England Temple.
Richard was a very active member of the Utah Amateur Radio Club (kd7tdz) and was the organization's secretary for many years. He was a Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Association of Volunteer Emergency Response Teams (AVERT) which is instrumental in the development of Emergency Preparedness CERT training in Utah.
As a faithful and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he accepted and magnified many callings, including Stake Mission President, High Priest Group Leader, choir director, and teacher. He served as a gifted gospel doctrine instructor and loved teaching the truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Lynda, and children Jason, Douglas (Penny), Ian (Jenny), and Clark (Samantha); siblings Robert (Ronda), Dorothy Ann (Fred) Davis, and Roger (Leslie), and in-laws Ken (Pat) Humphris, Jean Stephens, and Leslie (June) Humphris. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Fiona. His life was also blessed with 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Richard loved music, literature, camping, laughter, and most of all his sweetheart, Lynda, his family, and the gospel. During his entire life Richard had a profound love of Jesus Christ and was devoted to studying His life and emulating Him. His testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ was firm and unshakable. He remained valiant and true to the end and will be welcomed home with a resounding "Well done!" into the open arms of many loved ones and our beloved Heavenly Father.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 noon, January 2nd at the Cedar Breaks Ward, 5635 South 2200 West, Taylorsville, Utah, 84118 with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
