Richard Wayne McCarter, of Ponchatoula, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the age of 39. He was born on October 2, 1980, in Hammond, Louisiana. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and dedicated family man.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory of his high school sweetheart and wife of 20 years, Lena Albin McCarter; children, Christian Lee, Zachary Clark, and Mikayla Marie McCarter; mother, Evelyn Cooper Pigott (John); grandmother, Mildred Baham; sisters, Rochelle Miles (Lee), Dee Casey (Jay), and Sissy Bickford (Travis); nephews, Devin Dorsey, Jesse Bickford, Preston McCarter, Greyson Miles, Connor Bickford, and Trent Bickford; father-in-law, Ronnie Albin (Verda); mother-in-law, Glenda Hutchinson (Don); uncle, Dale McCarter; aunt, Vickie Mitrakas; great nephew, Maverick Dorsey; great niece, River Dorsey; as well as numerous other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee McCarter; sister, Elizabeth McCarter; grandfather, Preston Baham; grandparents, James and Vannie McCarter; and uncles, Danny Cooper and Wayne McCarter.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hope Lodge in New Orleans for their compassionate care.

Services for Richard McCarter will be postponed until further notice. We encourage you to send memories and condolences to the family via Facebook or Tributes.com to let them know that you are thinking of them during this difficult time.
