Rita B. Thibodeau ORANGE- Rita M. (Bourque) Thibodeau, 89, of 519 East River Street, and formerly of Dover, Delaware, died on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare- campus, Worcester, following an illness, with her loving and caring niece, Kim Marshall, at her side. Born in Orange on December 17, 1921, she was a daughter of Joseph and Eva (Vallincourt) Bourque and attended Orange High School. She was married to Gerald J. Thibodeau Sr. on February 11, 1942 and had enjoyed 63 years together until his death on February 10, 2005. Rita worked at the former Torrington Company, the White Drum Restaurant, Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School in Orange, and the Nelly Stokes and Dover High Schools in Delaware all while raising her family. Rita enjoyed golfing, and in June of 1976, scored a hole in one and was inducted into the World Gold Hall of Fame in Pinehurst, NC. She was an avid crafter, an accomplished seamstress, a voracious reader, a talented painter, and always loved to try new crafts. In her younger years, she enjoyed water and snow skiing and camping with her family. Rita also loved spending time at Wells Beach in Maine with family and friends. Survivors include her children, Gerald J. “G J” Thibodeau of Delaware and Thomas B. Thibodeau, of Arizona, and Melanie A. Todd of Charlotte, North Carolina; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren; a sister, Ann B. Marshall of Orange; many nephews and nieces; and her dog, “Molly”. Rita was predeceased by her beloved husband Gerald, an infant son, Jeffrey Thibodeau a great granddaughter, Bobbie Brooke McMillian, a brother, Harold Bourque and a sister, Doris Olson. There are no calling hours. Funeral services and interment will be private. Memorial contributions are suggested to Perkins Trust, c/o Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA 02472. Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is directing the arrangements.
