Robert (Bob) Flynn died suddenly on Saturday, October 8, 2016. He was 85 years old.
Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 20, 1931 to Mortimer and Helen Flynn. He attended St. Angelas Grade School, Fenwick High School and the University of Illinois. During the time he was employed by Top Value Stamps, he was transferred to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he met Mary Lou Hayward and her three children. Bob and Mary Lou were married on June 23, 1962. He loved telling the story of moving to Pittsburgh in his convertible and leaving there for a transfer to Chicago with a wife, three children, a cat and a moving van. In retirement he became an insurance broker.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; stepdaughters, Susan (George) Sell of Sanibel and Betsy Dekker of Sanibel; grandchildren Graham Sell of Sanibel and Alexandria Dekker of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; brother Mortimer and wife Marsha of Winter Haven, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, David and Sue Ladley of Chicago, Illinois and many nephews and nieces and a cat, Benjamin. Bob is preceded in death by older brother, Jim, a younger sister, Mary and a stepson Arnold P. Hayward III DDS in 1992.
Bob's service will be held at St. Isabel Catholic Church, located at 3559 Sanibel Captiva Road, on Friday, October 14 at 11 a.m. It will be followed by interment. A reception will follow at the church.
