Robert Claude "Bob" Younce, Sr. died on November 3, 2017. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 20, 1926, to Rev. William Claude Younce and Hannah Scheu Younce. The family moved to Mount Vernon, KY where Bob grew up.

During World War II he joined the Navy Seabees, serving in the South Pacific. After returning from the war, he owned a Lincoln Mercury dealership in Richmond, KY until he joined IBM in Lexington, KY in 1957. In 1965 Bob was transferred with IBM to Raleigh. Following his retirement, he started and operated Real Estate Referrals.

Bob was married to the former Virginia Hiatt (Jenny) for 64 years. He loved traveling the world, ballroom dancing, playing jazz piano, and most of all, his family.

Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh where he was on the diaconate for several years. He and Jenny were very active in the Koinonia Sunday school class where he served as president.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer Younce, Beth Whitney (Mark), Chip Younce (Dawn), and Mark Younce; grandchildren, Chris Kellam, Jason Kellam, Eric Whitney, Sara Whitney, John Younce, Rachel Weatherspoon, Hannah Thongthai, Becca Godfrey, Adam Younce, Jacob Younce, and Jordon Vines; ten great-grandchildren, and his sister, Lois Duncan of Nashville, TN.

The family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC from 6:30pm-8:30 pm on Wednesday, November 8.

A Witness to the Resurrection Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 112 S. Salisbury St., Raleigh, NC at 1:30 on Thursday, November 9. A private graveside service will take place at Raleigh Memorial Park prior to the memorial service.
