Robert D. Gordon, 72, of Garfield passed away peacefully on January 8, 2018. Born in Passaic, Mr. Gordon was a lifelong resident of Garfield. He had been employed with the United States Postal Service since 1967, retiring as a Safety Manager of the Northern District in South Hackensack in 2001. He was a member of the Garfield Volunteer Fire Department Company #1 for thirty-seven years, retiring in December of 2003 and had worked part-time as a Facilitator for the NJ Division of Fire Safety. Mr. Gordon was also an Insurance Inspector for Regional Reporting, Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Garfield and member of the Environmental Committee in Garfield. He was an avid fresh water fisherman and railroad enthusiast but above all else, had a never-ending love and passion for time spent with his five grandchildren, becoming a kid himself when he was around them. Mr. Gordon is survived by his beloved wife, Michalena (nee Babyak), of Garfield; three devoted daughters: Pamela Mileski and her husband, Kenneth, of Fair Lawn, Sharon Azzolino and her husband, Mark, of Rochelle Park and Sandra Lifschin and her husband, Bryan, of Fair Lawn; cherished sister Joan Gordon Murko and her husband, Donald, of Woodland Park; dear sister-in-law Sr. Cynthia Marie Babyak, C.S.S.F. of Edison; and five adored grandchildren: Kyle and Natalie Mileski, Matthew and Emily Azzolino and Alayna Lifschin. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 pm at the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton. Funeral Saturday 11:00 am at the funeral home with private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the New Jersey Firemen’s Home, 565 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005 would be preferred and appreciated.
