Robert E. Cook, 73, of Prudenville, died early Tuesday morning, June 5, 2001 at the home of his daughter, Karen, in Trenary after a short illness.

Mr. Cook was born April 5, 1928 at Mount Rose, Michigan to the late Asa and Marie Cowles Cook. He was a 1946 graduate of Houghton Lake High School. On February 7, 1948, he married the former Pauline A. Rising and together they recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.

Robert retired from Consumers Power Company in 1984 after a long career with them. He was also retired from the Denton Township Volunteer Fire Department as Fire Chief.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in Higgins Lake and Houghton-Higgins Lake Elks Lodge #1982. In his spare time, Robert loved to hunt and fish.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline A. Cook of Prudenville; two daughters, Karen Michael MacLachlan of Trenary, MI and Brenda James Finch of PennYan, NY; two grandchildren, Christa Michael Cook-Chiaurro of Edwardsville, IL and Andrew Finch of PennYan, NY; one great grandson, Anthony Chiaurro; also several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death besides his parents were siblings, Leslie Cook and Bernita Chandler.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2001 at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in Higgins Lake at 11 a.m. with Pastor Carl Heidel and Pastor James Cousineau officiating. There will be no visitation.
