Robert Edward Sepanik, age 78, of Westbrook, CT and Sebastian, FL passed away peacefully on August 21, 2016. His loving wife and two children were by his side.

Robert was born and raised in Meriden, CT, son of Edward and Helen Sepanik (Kingsford), He served 3 years in the U.S. Army at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC from 1957-1960. Bob graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Education. He loved the game of baseball, Bob was an outstanding pitcher, playing in high school, college, and beyond. He positively affected the lives of many children throughout his 30 years as a dedicated elementary school teacher. The highlight of his career came in 1990 when he was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Math. Bob had a deep love of the outdoors and was an active proponent of environmental education, which led to his creation of Deerwood Consulting, where he worked closely with Wesleyan University. He was an avid sports fan, closely following the Red Sox, New England Patriots, and UCONN basketball.

Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Sepanik (Smith), and his two children, Steven Sepanik of Sebastian, FL and Susan Sepanik of Black Hawk, CO. He also leaves three grandchildren, Torin, Sarina, and Faeryn, all of Colorado and a sister, Laurel Mossey of Torrington, CT.

Friends are invited to gather at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road Old Saybrook, CT 06475 on Thursday August 25, 2016 from 4-8pm. A mass will be held at St. Mark Church, 224 McVeagh Road Westbrook, CT 06498 at 10:30am on Friday August 26, 2016. A private burial is planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the National Wildlife Federation in his name.
