Robert (“Bob”) Schoenfeld died January 27, 2018 at the age of 91. Bob was born in Topeka, Kansas on November 29, 1926, the only child of George and Lucille Schoenfeld. When he was 10 years old, the family moved to Oklahoma City. Bob lived in Oklahoma City for the next 22 years other than his time in Alaska serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He received three degrees, including a PhD in biochemistry, from the University of Oklahoma. He married his high-school sweetheart, Roberta, in 1946. In 1958, Bob moved with his family to Albuquerque. While working at the VA Hospital, he worked nights and weekends to start his own lab, Schoenfeld Clinical Laboratories, which he owned until his retirement. He and Roberta travelled extensively, and took up bike riding in their 60s. They moved to Vancouver, WA in 2015 to be closer to family, and in 2016 celebrated 70 years of marriage. Bob enjoyed flying remote control airplanes, riding bicycles with his biking group, racquetball, gardening, and talking with everyone he met. Bob is survived by his wife, Roberta, 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. We will all miss him dearly.
